About This Rug
Small Amazigh (Berber) symbols in black, red, orange and blue are scattered across an ivory field between wavy vertical lines: arrows, stars, diamonds and little figures, each knotted freehand. It adds character to a calm room without strong blocks of colour: a bedroom, a living room with linen sofas, or a study. The photos show the rug this design comes from, on our workshop floor in Morocco. Yours is hand-knotted to order from washed natural sheep's wool in 4–6 weeks, so the motifs will be placed by hand and vary a little; before it ships we send you photos of your finished rug to approve. Choose one of 10 standard sizes from 2×3 to 10×15 ft, or enter your own size.

Craft story
Azilal rugs are named after the Azilal province in Morocco's High Atlas, where weavers knot bright, freehand motifs onto a pale wool ground. The motifs are placed by eye rather than from a fixed chart, so no two rugs are exactly alike. This one is hand-knotted to order by a woman weaver in the network of more than forty artisans we work with in Morocco.
Care
Vacuum regularly on low suction without the beater bar, and keep the vacuum off the fringe. Blot spills straight away with a clean, dry cloth; do not rub. Turn the rug every few months so it wears and fades evenly. For a deep clean, use a professional cleaner who works with wool. A few loose fibers are normal in the first weeks of a new wool rug.
