About This Rug

A softer take on the classic Beni Ourain lattice: the diamonds are drawn in warm grey instead of black, so the pattern reads from across the room without ever shouting. Grey lines sit naturally with grey sofas, oak floors and stone tones, while the ivory ground keeps the room bright. Choose it for a living room or bedroom where you want pattern but not contrast. The wool is natural sheep's wool, washed and colored with natural dyes, knotted into a pile of about 3–4 cm (1.2–1.6 in). Your rug is woven after you order, in 4–6 weeks, and you see photos of it before it leaves Morocco. It comes in 10 standard sizes from 2×3 to 10×15 ft, or in a custom size made for your room.

Craft story

Beni Ourain rugs come from the tribes of Morocco's Middle Atlas, who wove thick wool rugs to sleep on and keep warm through long mountain winters. This rug follows that tradition: it is hand-knotted, one knot at a time, by a woman weaver in the network of more than forty artisans we work with in Morocco, then washed and finished by hand.

Care

Vacuum regularly on low suction without the beater bar, and keep the vacuum off the fringe. Blot spills straight away with a clean, dry cloth; do not rub. Turn the rug every few months so it wears and fades evenly. For a deep clean, use a professional cleaner who works with wool. A few loose fibers are normal in the first weeks of a new wool rug.
