Pastel Square Moroccan Rug

Two columns of soft squares in lilac, rose and teal, each outlined in another pastel, sit on a creamy wool field with a thick, even pile. Gentle enough for a nursery or a bedroom, and graphic enough for a modern living room in white and pale wood. The photos show the rug this design comes from, on our workshop floor in Morocco. Yours is hand-knotted to order from washed natural sheep's wool in 4–6 weeks, so the motifs will be placed by hand and vary a little; before it ships we send you photos of your finished rug to approve. Colorful Berber rugs grow out of the same Amazigh weaving traditions as Beni Ourain and Boujad pieces, with more freedom in palette and pattern. This rug is hand-knotted to order by a woman weaver in the network of more than forty artisans we work with in Morocco.

Vacuum regularly on low suction without the beater bar, and keep the vacuum off the fringe. Blot spills straight away with a clean, dry cloth; do not rub. Turn the rug every few months so it wears and fades evenly. For a deep clean, use a professional cleaner who works with wool. A few loose fibers are normal in the first weeks of a new wool rug.
