Mint and Plum Abstract Moroccan Rug

A deep plum block, crossed by fine orange and ivory lines, sits above a mint green field, with a bold orange vessel shape at the centre: an abstract, almost poster-like design. A conversation piece for a living room or a studio; the mint is fresh with white walls, the plum with dark wood. The photos show the rug this design comes from, on our workshop floor in Morocco. Colorful Berber rugs grow out of the same Amazigh weaving traditions as Beni Ourain and Boujad pieces, with more freedom in palette and pattern. This rug is hand-knotted to order by a woman weaver in the network of more than forty artisans we work with in Morocco.

Vacuum regularly on low suction without the beater bar, and keep the vacuum off the fringe. Blot spills straight away with a clean, dry cloth; do not rub. Turn the rug every few months so it wears and fades evenly. For a deep clean, use a professional cleaner who works with wool. A few loose fibers are normal in the first weeks of a new wool rug.
